RESIST 2025
50 Ways Rockbridge started when Donald Trump was first elected. On the day of his second inauguration, this new page was dedicated to know about people and organizations who resist his agenda. For links to such organizations, check our Activism 102 page. If you have suggestions about resources to include, write to us at our email or Facebook page.

#1 Acting together: How and when
On Mondays and Tuesdays, say no to Ben Cline's inaction

Our representative in Congress, Rep. Ben Cline, is a member of the House Budget committee, and his actions are having severe impacts on us and our neighbors.
Across the Shenandoah Valley, people have been protesting his actions and inaction since the Trump administration started its blitz in January, with Cline's blessing and backing.
Join your Shenandoah neighbors every Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at 10 Franklin Road SE in Roanoke, 24011, to protest his actions.

Every Tuesday in Staunton, unhappy voters gather outside his office at 117 S. Lewis St., Staunton, VA 24401, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Thursday Communologues
A communologue is a dialogic tool for safe communication and connection in groups. The process provides an opportunity for groups to move from entrenched conflict and distrust into a space of compassion, understanding, and
free-flowing exchange of ideas.

They are held the first and third Thursdays of every month, 5:30-7:30 pm at Grace Episcopal Church Parish Hall. This free community dialogue is for those experiencing stress in the current political environment to share thoughts, feelings, and concerns in a supportive space.
The facilitators, Paul Bello and Susan Bedell, invite you to bring a friend or family member. Be sure to register, as the group is limited to 20 participants. Past participants are asked to register as well. Click this link to Register

Friday Love Rallies
Every Friday, 4:00-5:30 pm, join your neighbors in standing up for the things you value at a Hearts for Democracy rally. Organized by a group of concerned citizens committed to supporting democratic values through “signs, songs, and shared goodwill.” The rallies are held at Hopkins Green.
#2 Help keep our calendar up to date

Even in a community as small as ours, it’s hard to know everything that’s going on. We need each other to stay informed.
If you know of an event that should be on our calendar but isn’t, you can let us know by sending an email to 50waysrockbridge@gmail.com
Use our online calendar to find community events, governmental meetings, and important dates.

Click here and now: Activism boot camp interest form
In the last half of August, 50 Ways Rockbridge will host a two-day boot camp for anyone who wants to learn how to become a more effective activist.
Drawing on methods created by experts in non-violent resistance movements, the training will give us tools and strategies for promoting change, resisting the dismantling of democracy, and expanding our community of activists.
We are in the planning stages of the training, and want to talk to you about your engagement and possible interest in joining us.

We've put together a short questionnaire to help us take into consideration your interests, skills, and availability.
Filling out the form does not commit you to attending, of course, but it will help us plan more effectively.
Click here, please, and thank you!
